Final Thoughts & Remarks

The 3 takeaways from my research:

01

Money Matters

Unfortunately, finances and socioeconomic status play a significant role in a child's athletic opportunities. Not only does money impact their chances to participate at a high level, but the pay-to-play system has become a huge part of youth sports. With that being said, we must work to prevent kids' sports from becoming a political business.

02

overinvolvement may be toxic

Although parental support in youth sports is an important part of the parent-child relationship, those who are deeply involved often create a lot of difficulty for their kids to succeed. Constant pressure can lead kids to a life full of internal struggles, as well as a lack of emotional connections with their parents.

03

Exploiting one's Social status

More often than not, parents will use their own social standing to their advantage, especially if this means it will give their children a better chance to succeed. Oftentimes, this means using their personal connections unfairly, which ultimately results in privileged kids getting better opportunities than others who are less fortunate.
